This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Can you two create ioreg dumps for me? One while everything works as 
expected - and then another dump after you see a problem.

It's easy to do. 
1) Enter this line into Terminal.app:

ioreg -l -w 0 >~/Desktop/ioregDump.txt

(ioreg -l -w 0 >~/Desktop/ioregDump2.txt the second time)

2) send the files ioregDump.txt and ioregDump2.txt from your Desktop 
to info@iospirit.com.

I can then take a look at what is going on on the IOKit level.
