This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.

I'm not familiar with the ninetedo sensor bar. However, I'm using 3 high-intensity IR LED's (total cost < $2US) as the IR source for the wii remote, placed similarly to yours, ~ 20cm below my 50" plasma screen. I get almost full response on the calibration screen, and with the latest version of RB, I find I have very smooth control over the cursor position. So you may want to try a different IR source.
