This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
A small update and good news on that topic:

I recently found a (clean) way to achieve the closure of the Bluetooth 
connection even under OS X 10.5.6. Unless any last minute problems 
turn up with that technique, support for the power saving options will 
again be part of the next release of Remote Buddy.
