Re: best remote option for Mac Pro

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Thanks for asking.

There's no general answer. Every remotes has its set of advantages and
disadvantages. The Apple Remote usually has a long battery life, but
has only six buttons, which some find too limiting (I personally can
live with the six buttons just fine). In your case, it also requires
an additional IR receiver.

The Wii Remote on the other hand is full of high-tech, but -
essentially being a game controller, having to power IR camera, motion
sensors, status LEDs, etc. and also using Bluetooth - has only a
limited battery life of only a few hours of uninterrupted use (with
all power saving/disconnect options Remote Buddy is offering
disabled). A battery recharger and four rechargable AA batteries are
therefore highly recommended. It also needs a (Wireless) Wii Sensor
Bar for its IR camera based mouse mode to function.

The bottom line is that what can be seen as the best solution really
depends on what use case you want to use it in.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz
