This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Thank you for your thorough and quick response. Understanding that the process of the Mac adding startup items can be unreliable on the mac side, I unchecked the remote buddy auto-login option, quit, restarted, then proceeded to check the auto-login again. This time it worked!
