To complete the forum discussion, here's - with Jon-Paul's permission
- the reproduction of the reply he sent me by email:

ok i got it figured out.
when trying to get the 1.5 driver to work i had checked the "open
with rosetta" checkbox in "get info" for RB.
unchecking that fixed the problem.
