probably it is a feature request, but perhaps there is already a work around. 
I use often the "Fimlbibliothek" for my ripped movies, which are in a container with the extension ".dvdmedia". 
In the finder you don't the this extension, but in the "Filmbibliothek".

Is there a way to hide the extension there, too?
