thanks for your feedback.

To fast forward and rewind, you need - with default mapping - to hold
the left and right buttons for as long as you want to rewind or fast
forward.

Also, please note that rewinding and fast forwarding is not supported
by VLC for every possible file and file format due to limitations in
of those file formats or missing information in those files.
