RB and airport express?!
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi all,
RB is fantastic, this alone is going to make me buy an ipod touch. Only piece missing is the ability to select which airport express (or multiples) the music streams to, if this could be added it would be amazing.
Thanks
Noel

Hi Noel,

thanks for your suggestion! Right now, Apple (sadly) offers no API to
do this, but you may want to have a look at AirFoil over at Rogue
Amoeba, which is supported by Remote Buddy and allows you to gain
control over your AirPort Express(es). I currently don't own any AE
hardware, but I haven't heard a single complaint about the AirFoil
Behaviour - which was contributed by Rogue Amoeba themselves - thus far.

Best regards,
Felix

Thanks Felix, I am now using Airfoil extensively, I plan to use a mac mini as a server running RB, with multiple Airport expresses around the house.
My challenge is not knowing which speakers i'm turning on or moving to, same with the application.

Instead of selecting next speaker or next application is there anyway to get that feedback or named items into RB?

Thanks
Noel

Hello Noel,

you could use Remote Buddy's built-in support for switching AirTunes
speakers, which includes speaker names. You won't be able to select
multiple speakers, though. That remains the domain of Airfoil.

Best regards,
Felix
