The screen "Launch Filename.ext"

shows multiple time the programs associated with that kind of files

so if I select a tiff image

I'd like not to delete the preferences as I've made many changes to button mappings in many behaviours

like Finder, Remote Buddy asks Launch Services for applications able 
to launch a file, uses that list and makes it available through the 
menu. If you have backups or copies of software laying around, Launch 
Services will add them to the list. As Mac users are free to place 
their applications in a location of their choice, it's not possible 
for Remote Buddy - and often also not wanted by the user - to filter 
the results provided by Launch Services.

Do you use Time Machine? (one feature of Leopard I haven't tried, yet, 
but which may create a lot of copies of your software)

Is there a way to avoid the full list of software in remote buddy? 

Could you try to temporarily detach your Time Machine drive and see if 
that fixes the problem?

I'll then try to reproduce the problem and see what can be done about 
it.

It's important for me to point out, though, that Remote Buddy really 
does just use the list of applications returned by Launch Services, 
which is part of OS X. If, however, Launch Services presents backup 
copies from Time Machine as launchable apps, this clearly is a bug in 
Launch Services that'll affect many - and I'll be happy to add a 
workaround for it.
