Thanks for asking.
This is not a bug, it's a feature. And the only way to achieve the
most frequently asked for functionality in iTunes.
If you select a track on the album, you can be sure that Remote Buddy
will play only the tracks on this album. This is only possible by
using a playlist of its own. If Remote Buddy would use the main music
library for this, it would be exposed to a great number of error
sources, including:
- your sorting settings (as soon as you sort by anything other than
album, the next playing track will highly likely NOT be from the album
you selected)
- possibly entered search keywords (limiting the playlist and possible
omitting tracks, which will then not be played)
Other specialized features, like playing all tracks by an artist are
impossible to implement without a playlist of its own, either. Same
goes for enqueing songs. You can enqueue songs in a special playlist
like the main music library.
Finally, if you want to select tracks from and play them directly in
your main music library, you'll find that main music library as
playlist in the Music Library browser.
