FF/RW issues in Quicktime
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
When I hold down the FF or RW button on my Appl Remote in order to search in a movie during playback it has a tendency to go mad and search through the file out of control. IS there a way to avoid this?

Preferably I would have a function that allowed me to hump like 10 sec. forward in time when I pressed the FF-button and progressive Forwarding when the button is held, like it is done in VLC. Is there a way to achieve this through some plugin or scripting?

FF and RW of movies in Quicktime does always depend on which material
you try to perform it. The choice of codecs, the frequency of
reference frames, etc. all play a role and not all combinations will
give you the same results.

Remote Buddy uses AppleScript to command QuickTime, so there shouldn't
be any difference as to whether you press rewind/fast forward in the
QuickTime Player UI or trigger it via Remote Buddy actions. It's the
parameters the material you are viewing was encoded with that decides
how QuickTime will allow you to play back, rewind and ff a movie file.
