hi there

i wanted to try the new streaming feature but i dont get these funny blue play-buttons. i enabled the ajax remote feature, i allowed incoming connections in the firewall setup but no blue button appears on my ipod touch.

im using a mac mini g4, osx 10.5.2, itunes 7.6.2, remote buddy 1.10.1
ipod touch os-version 1.1.4, jailbroken, deactivated ssh via boss prefs
airport extreme 801.11g (54mb/s)

hope that anyone could help me. would be great to stream my music to the bedroom's ipod hifi without an airport express

From the FAQ:

Q: How can I listen to / watch content from iTunes® on my iPhone™ /
iPod® Touch? ("Streaming")(FAQ015E0229)

A: First of all, setup the AJAX Remote as described in the FAQ entry
"How do I setup the AJAX Remote?".
Then follow these steps:

• In AJAX Remote on your iPod® Touch or iPhone™, tap on the "Music"
symbol.

• Now tap on "Library" (upper-right corner) and navigate to the media
file you want to playback on your iPod® Touch or iPhone™.

• Tap on the blue play button.

• If QuickTime® thinks that it can playback the file, you can now
start playback by tapping on dark-blue playback button.

All preference settings are already set correctly by default. If
however, you don't see any playback symbols: the remote access to
files is only supported if you have you have set a password ("Require
password" is enabled) and the option "Allow access to the files in
your iTunes® library ("streaming")" is enabled as well.

Given your description, the last paragraph is the solution to your
problem: enabling password protection and then giving permission to
remote access (the latter is automatically turned off, if you turn off
password protection).

well, turning on streaming is solved. However, it seems like only one song can be streamed at a time. I have tried everything I could think of to get a playlist going to no avail. How is this accomplished? Checked the FAQ and the help and couldn't find it.

Navigate to an album or a playlist, then choose the song to start
playback at. First, that file will be played and then all files
listedbelow that.

Please also see the blog for info on limitations of the media player
of Mobile Safari (=> no previous/next song navigation, you can
navigate to the next song by sliding the playback position on the top
to the end, though).

All that info as of iPhone / iPod Touch firmware version 1.1.4.

I see - I was trying to play multiple tunes from the QuickTime play buttons. It makes sense now - create a playlist first, then navigate to library>playlists>RemoteBuddy and cue the first track with the blue QT button and it plays through. Very cool - now I just have to figure out how to listen to my home library while I'm at work! If I punch enough holes in the firewalls...
