Universal remote / IR blaster

Can Remote Buddy be used as a virtual universal remote by sending bound keys out via an IR blaster or serial port?

I want to use a PS3 remote to with Boxee and map some keys to power/mute/volume on my AV receiver so I will have just one remote.

Thanks for asking.

IR blasters are currently not directly supported. You can, however,
always add custom actions to Remote Buddy that use AppleScript to
command third party software that does support IR blasters.

I've just upgraded to the latest version of Remote Buddy - which now officially supports the Manta TR1 receiver. - Are the blaster ports on this receiver supported in the new software?

Remote Buddy doesn't currently support IR blasters or transmitters
(like f.ex. in the Manta TR1).

Is this something that's planned for the future? - Or am I better seeking an alternative solution (rather than wait?)

Thanks.

I can't talk about future versions, sorry.

I'm not aware of any Mac software that currently supports the blasters
on the Manta TR1.

You want Remote Buddy software + iRed software + the irTrans ir blaster + applescript.

iRed and the irTrans are sold in a bundle, for like 100 euros. Not cheap, but it gets the job done. iRed is very scriptable; it can learn ir button presses from your receiver's remote, and you can trigger those buttons through the ir blaster with simple applescripts, and tie those applescripts to buttons on your remote in Remote Buddy.

It's kind of a long chain of things to put together, but once you set it up it will work nicely.
