Manta TR1 IR Receiver
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hello

I just bought a Manta TR1 IR Receiver (as it was mentionned in these pages as a supported hardware). BUT this receiver is now in version 0.2 (as mentionned in USB characteristic) and is not recognized by RB.

So,
a) first, be aware if you plan to buy it, because it not (yet?) recognized by RB, and not usable at all

b) I don't know if its chipset is still the OVU4003 or not (the name on the chipset is partially erased), but the receiver appears to be in version 0.2 (even if its written v0.1 on the PCB). The ID product is 0xe03a and the ID vendor is (of course) 0x147a.
I try to find a .plist file where the ID product and ID vendor of compatible receivers are listed (in order to change it and try to see if that receiver can be recognized - may be it has the same chipset), but I couldn't find it.

Does anybody know more about this receiver ? Should I buy their product (Mira software - but it doesn't seem to be as powerful as RB) or wait for an update (since I don't know about the chipset, I don't know if this could be easily doable) ?

Thank you for your answer and/or comments

Thanks for asking.

Remote Buddy right now only supports the first revision of the Manta
TR-1 (as specified on the "Supported Hardware" page).

I already have the second revision here (thanks to Twisted Melon). A
simple edit of the Info.plist that holds the vendor and product IDs of
supported receivers will not do. Additional and new code will have to
be written to support it. I have started to work on it, but can
currently devote only little time to it. So no promises, no
announcement, no timetable and no progress reports from my side.

Thank you Felix for your answer

I hope you could fix it soon :-)

Could you also put on your "supported hardware" webpage that the "new" version of Manta TR1 is not yet supported (TwistedMelon doesn't say anything about this version 0.2, so it is not possible for someone who want to buy a Manta to know that there is different versions)

PS: if one day you have a beta-version that supports Manta ver 0.2 and you need someone else to make test, you can contact me.

Best regards

The driver for the new hardware revision is already working, but still
in prototype state. Unless any show stoppers turn up, it should be
part of the next, regular release.

If the next release isn't terribly soon, is there any chance of a beta driver being released?

Are there any updates / ETA on this? I just bought a Mantra TR1 Receiver and was looking to get Remote Buddy when I saw this post. If this is going to take a while, I might just have to go with their remote software as I'm eager to start using my remote.

Thanks,
Sanjiv

Thanks for asking.

I generally don't preannounce release dates. It's not too far away,
though.

To the best of my knowledge, eHome receivers (including the Manta TR1)
are not able to wakeup on the signal of an Apple Remote (regardless of
which software you use). The hardware of these receivers appears to
only support wakeup via Windows MCE remotes, which use a protocol
different from that of the Apple Remote.
