error message when changing r.b system options

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I am running remote buddy on a Macbook Pro with Tiger 10.4.10 on an admin account.
Whenever I try to change the preferences for system options in the way remote buddy appears (I want it to only appear in the menu bar and the original preference is for dock and menu bar) I get an error message. It says
File Info.plist could not be modified as remote buddy does not have sufficient permissions to modify the file and I had to ask an administrator for help.
I tried trashing the plist files that I could find for remote buddy but this has not helped.
