Keyspan DMR, Custom Remote?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Keyspan DMR Receiver: UIA-11F

With the Keyspan software I had the ability to set it up to use any remote, provided I had a valid .REM file, or made one. An example REM file contained something like:

FRQ 38000
BIT 563

CMD NEXT_TRK 0101 0101 0103 0101 0101 0101 0101 0101 0103 0103 0101 0103 0103 0103 0103 0103 0103 0103 0101 0103 0101 0101 0101 0101 0101 0101 0103 0101 0103 0103 0103 0103 015D

CMD REWIND 0101 0101 0103 0101 0101 0101 0101 0101 0103 0103 0101 0103 0103 0103 0103 0103 0103 0101 0103 0101 0101 0103 0103 0101 0101 0103 0101 0103 0103 0101 0101 0103 015D

I noticed that RemoteBuddy supports the Keyspan and Apple remote, so it would seem that it would be possible to add support for other remotes (at least when using the Keyspan receiver) if the valid IR codes were available, any chance of this being possible?
The reason I ask is that I use a different remote to have the ability to program more buttons for some specific tasks (which, are then programmed in to my Harmony remote to do even more)...

These entries from the FAQ may be relevant to this topic:

Hello Jonathan,

thanks for asking.

The Keyspan receiver should in fact be able to receive a wide range
of signals from many different remote controls. I also have adding
support for this on my ToDo list. But no promises, yet, as to when
that feature will make it into Remote Buddy.

Best regards,
Felix

I, too, would be interested in a solution that would let any IR remote (specifically, the universal remote I use for all my other AV equipment) control the Mac I have attached to my TV.

I have the Keyspan Media Remote, and can get at least some control from my FiOS universal remote (not enough, but some), though Remote Buddy ignores this change and only works with the Keyspan remote itself.

Hello Chris,

thanks for sharing.

Support for any IR remote is still on my ToDo list.

Regarding the changes you may have made in Keyspan's software: Remote
Buddy does not use any part of or depend on the Keyspan software. It
brings a driver of its own. Thus, any changes you make in / for the
software shipped by Keyspan have no effect on which IR protocols
Remote Buddy supports.

Best regards,
Felix

Hello Felix

I would also appriciate it very much if you would add support for custom remotes. I would be really really nice if you had the posibility to add support for this in the near feature.

Thanks for a good product so far.

Hello Felix,

Any development in adding the ability to add any remote? Is it still in your TO DO list?

Thanks
