1 click in Frontrow with RB results in 2 clicks
View

This behaviour happens all the time I use RemoteBuddy with the Apple Remote in Frontrow. Whenever I navigate through the menu, my playlists, my files I only press the button once but Frontrow reacts as if I pressed the button twice. E.g. I want to skip from "video" to "music", I press the "right button" and FR switches from video over music to photo. When I deactivate RB Frontrow reacts as normal as ever.

any clues?

Hello James,

thanks for posting.

Apple changed the AR driver in 10.4.9. This will be fixed with the
next release of Remote Buddy. Please see the other threads on the
same topic for more info.

Best regards,
Felix

I am having this exact same issue. Except that I'm on Leopard and using the latest RemoteBuddy.

Anybody else having this problem in Leopard?

Hopefully there is a fix..

thanks,

To fix this problem, please install Remote Buddy's kernel extension
(Remote Buddy Pulldown Menu > Setup Wizard…), which has been
particularly developed to work around a bug in Apple's code.

More info on this in the FAQ.

Felix

Please make sure you are running the latest version of Remote Buddy
(older versions of the extension do *not* load on Leopard). If the
installation of the extension did succeed, System Profiler should show
you that version 1.4.6 is installed.

I uninstalled and downloaded the latest version this morning. installed fresh and installed the extension.

It only happens in front row. all other programs and remote buddy menus work. However,
I have been using a Harmony remote instead of the apple remote.
I just tried it with the apple remote and it works fine. So it's something with the way that the harmony remote send the signal.
However, it used to work perfectly on Tiger just Yesterday. Once I installed Leopard last night I started having the problems.

The "parsing" of the remote control IR signals takes place directly in
the IR receiver hardware. Remote Buddy then reads the "parsed" data
and maps it to the respective actions. So, nothing should be different
between Leopard and Tiger as no system software other than rudimentary
USB I/O is involved in the process. I have no influence on how the
hardware IR receiver "parses" the IR signals, either.

Apple's Remotes use a non-standard IR protocol, so that it's likely
that the Harmony does not get the repeats right.

I had this problem with leopard & 1.8 too. Turns out the update ran by Remote Buddy didn't work quite right. I had the same problem metioned on this board where it would repeatedly download, but quiting and resarting "seemed" to fix it. The Eyetv reciever showed up, but the software version still reported as 1.74. Random things would happen during button presses. I'm also using a harmony remote, which works fine normally.

Deleting remote buddy from my Apps folder and reinstalling 1.8 cleared every thing up.
