Using Wii Remote with www.virtualnes.com

Hi,

I was trying to use RemoteBuddy with a wii remote to play Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) roms online. After mapping the wiimote to the proper inputs for the Firefox application, I load the website, and the controller input is incredibly laggy, like there's a .5 second latency with each button press. The input is also so unprecise that its not usable. In any other context within Firefox, this lag does not exist, and the responsivity is sufficient to play (the emulator is written in javascript, so the performance is not perfect to begin with).

By the time the event gets to Firefox, shouldn't it just be interpreted as keyboard input (if the wiimote is mapped to custom key presses)?

Hello Leo,

thanks for asking.

The key presses should be instant (unless you mapped a different
action to the hold states of the respective buttons). RC2's mapping
algorithms actually have been updated to allow instant presses
without any unnecessary delay.

My guess is that it's simply a performance issue. You might want to
make sure the IR mouse mode is turned off at the time of use to avoid
any unnecessary event traffic during gameplay. The performance of
your system could also be a possible cause.

Also, you might have set "Send keystroke on release" in your actions,
which would only send a keypress at the time you release the button.

Best regards,
Felix
