Safari v.k.

Hi Felix,

I've been experiencing some issues when using the r.b. virtual keyboard with safari.

In Safari whenever i try to use the show/hide virtual keyboard action from within the remote buddy context menu the virtual keyboard appears but only momentarily and then hides itself automatically, i also tried creating a script app i can launch with my mouse from outside of remote buddy, to tell the remote buddy app to toggle show/hide virtual keyboard but that also results in the same behaviour?!

Both of these solutions work fine in any other situation, its just inside of safari that they...dont!

The show/hide action assigned to the remote button in remote buddy works fine, its just the context item that doesn't work properly.

Thanks
Acam

I'm having exactly the same problem and I too have an "external" script to toggle on and off the VK. However I have found a way to make it work, but it needs a little intervention from Felix.
If you activate the VK from Remote Buddy's menu then close the menu. The VK is now displayed. Activating the script to toggle on and off the VK will now work with Safari. I also experienced this problem with FireFox.
Felix can you help us?

Hi Felix,

Thanks again for the update, it solves the Safari context menu issue but my custom script outside of Remote Buddy still exhibits the same wierd behaviour.
I was wondering if this is a bug or if you could let me know how to create a script that would perform normally with safari and the virtual keyboard.

Thanks,
Acam

Hi Acam,

what does your script look like - and how do you invoke it?

Hi Felix,
The script looks like this:

tell application "Remote Buddy" to virtualkeyboard event "toggle"

I then invoke it from the dock or mostly from my mouse/wacom pen by assigning the script to one of the modifiable buttons.

Thanks,
Acam
[UPDATE] i just updated to version 1.7.4 and now the script works fine from the mouse or dock but i have also applied it to a launcher (trampoline) and it still exhibits the same behaviour?! Thanks again!!

I could not find any problem with the code given, so I'm sure I must
have missed something.

In which context does it not perform as expected?

Best regards,
Felix
