Can't Wake iMac
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I think remote buddy is excellent and does loads of things beyond what I was expecting. I have just one small problem, I can't seem to be able to wake my iMac once it's been put to sleep using the Apple Remote. Am I missing the point or do I need to set something up somewhere?

Thanks

Hello Matthew,

thanks for asking. Waking your Mac with the Apple Remote is only
supported on Macs that have an internal receiver. As a standard HID
device, the built-in IR receiver will send keypress-like events when
you press a button and thus wake the machine independant of any
driver. This is not the case for other receivers, as those are not HID
devices.

Best regards,
Felix

So I have a brand new iMac, and it won't wake up with the Apple Remote using Remote Buddy. It works fine if I close remote buddy and put the computer to sleep myself. Is there some setting I am missing? I have tried the settings in the energy saver both ways, and still can't seem to get it to work.

I'm sorry but I can't reproduce the problem on either of the two
MacBooks and a first-gen iMac Core Duo. I do believe though that it
could be a timing issue - one for which I'm looking into a workaround
right now.

If you could provide me with more info, this would be helpful, namely:

- which version of OS X you are using

- which version of Remote Buddy you are using

- whether you have the kernel extension installed

- whether you have paired your remote with the Mac (=> please note
that only the remote you have paired your Mac with can be used to wake
up your Mac. If you previously paired your Mac with a remote and then
make use of Remote Buddy's support for multiple remotes - which
ignores the pairing info - you can put your Mac to sleep with Remote
Buddy using a remote other than the one you paired, but you'll only be
able to wake up your Mac again, if you are using the remote that you
have paired)

- if you have paired your Mac with the remote: if the problem persists
if you unpaired it

Best regards,
Felix

Hello,

I have the same problem on my brand new 24 inch alu iMac.

It's no problem to put the iMac to sleep with the Apple Remote except for waking up from sleep mode. When I close RB, the problem disappears and it all works fine.

I'm using Mac OS 10.4.11 with Remote Buddy Version 1.8 and I did not pair my remote with the Mac.

It would be very nice if anybody could help to solve this problem...
