Keyspan Remote For iTunes
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I decided to purchase the Keyspan Remote for iTunes after I discovered it is fully supported by Remote Buddy. I am using a Mac Mini as a video server and find the Apple Remote simply doesn't have enough buttons for all I want to accomplish. I plan to use my Logitech Harmony Remote to "learn" all 17 buttons on the Keyspan Remote and then use Remote Buddy to customize the behavior of each of the 17 buttons (for controlling DVDpedia and DVD Player).

I expect to receive the Keyspan within a couple days and want to be ready to proceed with the installation when it arrives. My questions involve the installation of the Keyspan IR Receiver on my Mac Mini. I want to make sure I proceed in a manner that insures the Keyspan will work correctly with Remote Buddy.

Is it correct that I don't need to install any of the drivers/software that come with the Keyspan remote since I plan to use it with Remote Buddy? How do I get Remote Buddy to recognize/detect the Keyspan once I attach the USB IR receiver to my Mac Mini? Are there specific instructions you can provide for installing and utilizing the Keyspan with Remote Buddy?

Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide.

You should indeed not install the software that comes with the bundle.
If you do nonetheless, Remote Buddy will gently ask you to remove it
again ;-)

Regarding setup: there's none. Just plug in the device to your USB
port. Remote Buddy detects it automatically.

Best regards,
