Itunes playlist folders - question
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi, is there a way with remote buddy to expand and collapse the itunes playlist folders? I am currently navigating itunes using a keyspan remote. I can move up and down and select various playlists. However, if something is inside a folder, I can not access it without a mouse. I do not see any way to do it with a keyboard shortcut.

If I could do this, I would gladly purchase remote buddy. Thanks!

Remote Buddy doesn't try to abuse the iTunes interface for browsing,
but rather has a REAL built-in Music Library Browser with some added
smartness in its own onscreen menu designed especially for remote
controls. Sure enough, playlists (and playlist folders) are supported
there, too.

You can try out Remote Buddy without feature limitations for 30 days.
You download the demo by clicking on any of the "Try" buttons on the
website.

Thanks for this reply. I did try the software and it's pretty cool.

I had one question -- when I select a playlist in the remote buddy menu, it doesn't change the playlist within itunes. So when I go into coverflow mode, it doesn't display the playlist that remote buddy is playing. Is there any way to change this behavior? It would be better if remote buddy actually changed the playlist within itunes.

My only other concern is the overall slugishness of the controls, especially launching the music menu.

Other than those concerns, I like the software.

Thanks,

Al

One other behavior I just noticed that I'm curious about. When I play a playlist through the remote buddy menu, how do I use shuffle mode? Even when shuffle mode is on in itunes, when I forward to the next song, it does not shuffle. Thanks.

Remote Buddy depends on iTunes. As such, it's also limited by what
iTunes is doing.

Remote Buddy is playing back your playlist if you select it in the
menu. iTunes however will not automatically jump to the playlist it is
currently playing. This is a shortcoming / behaviour of iTunes, not
Remote Buddy.

Shuffle mode is saved by iTunes on a per-playlist basis. Thus, if you
are in another playlist than the one that is being played, turning on
and off shuffle will not have any effect on the currently played back
playlist.

This, again, is how iTunes behaves.
