kernel extension 1.5 disables keyspan mapper
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I updated to Remote Buddy 1.8.5 and Kernel Extension 1.5. Now, when I startup or login, the Keyspan DMR Mapper says there's another version of it running, so it's "exiting".

I re-installed everything. Same problem. I uninstalled the Kernel Extension and the Keyspan Mapper works fine, but the Remote Buddy stops working.

I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 on a Core Solo Mac Mini w/ 1 GB of RAM and Keyspan Digital Remote Software version 2.4b4 with the URM-15A remote.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

The Keyspan DMR Mapper and Remote Buddy both provide drivers for the
Keyspan IR receiver.

One USB device can't be driven by two drivers at once, so one (here:
the Keyspan one) loses the matching process. So this is the expected
behaviour.

You can't and shouldn't use two drivers for one device at the same time.

I disabled the Keyspan mapper. It looks like Remote Buddy 1.8.6 and Kernel Extension 1.5.1 did the trick, though.

Thanks for the help and thanks for making such a great product. I thought my mini was great before, but remote buddy just makes it even better.

Thanks again,
Julian
