Hi,
I know this problem all too well, but it's not a problem of Remote
Buddy, but rather with how OS X handles network volumes to which it
lost connection.
Here's what happens:
- you mount the network volume
- you put your computer to sleep
- the network volume connection is closed by the fileserver
- you wake your computer
- you try to use an application (here: Remote Buddy) to access files
or folders on the network volume
- OS X still thinks the network volume is connected when in fact the
connection had been closed by the server long ago
- OS X will wait and wait and wait, until a (far too long) time-out
kicks in.
- while it waits, all access to that network volume block
- if you try to use any other application that even dares to request
info from the network volume (f.ex. for the list on the left in all
Open/Save dialogs), it, too will block until OS X's timeout for the
network volume has finally come to an end.
So, yes, the problem is known, but it's not a problem specific or
related to Remote Buddy.
As Leopard provides a lot of improvements, convenience and fixes in
the network volume area, you may want to consider to switch to Leopard
if you haven't already.
Best regards,
Felix
