The AJAX Remote stores its password in OS X keychain. Since Leopard,
the keychain offers advantages to applications that use code signing.
So Remote Buddy does. The OS X keychain apparantly does not allow any
application to access keychain information, if it's code signing is
broken.
Any modification to Remote Buddy's application bundle, especially it's
Info.plist will break Leopard's code signing and lead to keychain
taking that security measure.
Solution is to make sure you have a clean, unmodified version of
Remote Buddy installed:
1) Quit Remote Buddy.
2) Download Remote Buddy from
http://www.iospirit.com/remotebuddy/download/
and replace your existing copy.
3) Don't modify the application bundle. Especially don't use tools
like Dockless or any other tools that modify Info.plist or the
application bundle contents.
4) Start Remote Buddy.
(Optional: 5) if the password still isn't saved: remove the existing
AJAX Remote entry from your keychain - which is the easiest to fix
broken permissions caused by a modified version of Remote Buddy.app))
That should solve the problem.
