Support for Nokia n770/800
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I was wondering if there is any consideration of the Nokia n770/800 web tablet. I know there is a huge market for these as a touchscreen remote and I would love to see Remote Buddy running on it.

The n800 is running an OS known as maemo, which is a modified version of Debian GNU/Linux (running Linux 2.6.18). It seems like a perfect fit for Remote Buddy.

Thanks for a great product and any feedback.

**Note: I just read Felix's post for the Nokia E61, so I would like to change this to a suggestion and not an inquiry. I would love to see support for the n770 or n800. Thanks!

Thanks for asking.

Remote Buddy's AJAX Remote is not bound to a particular device. In
fact, it works fine on the iPod Touch, iPhone as well as desktop
Safari (on Mac OS X and Windows).

Whether you can use AJAX Remote on a device is determined by whether
the browser on that device

- is compliant to web standards

- supports the latest incarnation of web standards (CSS 3 is needed
for correct rendering of some UI elements)

- runs on a device with a big enough screen to render the AJAX Remote

If I remember correctly, Nokia is using Apple's WebKit for the browser
on their devices. So you may want to try out Remote Buddy with your
tablet. The 30 day trial is (of course) time-limited, but not limited
in features.

Best regards,
