Remote Buddy always running in dock & menu
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Greetings to all.

I'm trying to get RB to run just in my menu bar. Despite setting this option in the RB preferences, it still opens in my dock. Cycling through the different settings yields that I can have it in the Dock (and not the menubar), Dock & Menu, but not just the Menu- it still opens up in the dock.

I noticed this behavior only recently when I reformatted my Mac Pro. I'm running the latest versions of RB and OS X 10.5.

Cheers,
-KT

On OS X 10.4, Remote Buddy needs to modify its own Info.plist to
achieve that option. In OS X 10.5, there are other ways and while
modification of the Info.plist still works, it breaks the code
signature of the application (=> RB is code signed to deliver the best
experience with Leopard's keychain and firewall - both of which behave
differently, when an app is signed).

Therefore, if you changed that option in the past, you shouldn't reuse
a copy of Remote Buddy.app from 10.4 (as, when you changed that
option, the Info.plist will be modifed and code signing be broken),
but rather install it afresh for 10.5.

Best regards,
