Apple Remote behaving oddly
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hello,

I have a very weird issue with the Apple Remote, which i don't think is related to Remote Buddy but maybe someone can help...

I'm not actually sure when it started - i think maybe after trying OSXBMC but it could be anything else. Now whenever i'm running remote buddy - pressing the menu button brings up the dashboard instead of the RB menu. Pressing the menu button several times finally brings it up. However, trying to navigate the menu is a no go, pressing any button makes the selection scroll all the way down like the button was still being pressed...

The same thing happens with RB off, pressing the menu button is ok, front row shows up but i still can't navigate anywhere - it's like im never releasing the buttons. You can guess what happens when trying to play a movie - bang, sleep mode.

I tried reloading the remote buddy driver, and went through all the settings regarding the apple remote i could find but there wasn't anything wrong that i could see. I also tried replacing the battery in the remote - no luck.

I'll be glad for any pointers since it's driving me crazy.

Thanks :)

Hi and thanks for asking.

What you describe sounds as if you have selected the "Expose"-
Behaviour at

Remote Buddy Preferences > General > Advanced.. > "Activate Behaviour
at start"

Setting that option back to the default setting of "None
(recommended)" will bring back Remote Buddy's standard behaviour.

Remote Buddy can’t and won't affect what your remote control is doing
at times where Remote Buddy is not running, though. Remote Buddy needs
to be running in order to have any effect on what actions are
triggered by your remote control.

If you experience unexpected behaviour of your remote when Remote
Buddy is not running, you may want to check Activity Monitor for other
remote control software or their remains (I know of at least one
remote control software that offers an uninstall routine that does not
work under at least Leopard).

Best regards,
