Behaviour is uninstalled after restarting
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi,

I created a new behaviour for Plex (I know one already exists for download but mine contains extra features not present in that version).

I followed the instructions and if I select "compile, test and permanently install" inside the construction kit, everything works perfectly inside Plex and I can see the behaviour inside the Remote Buddy mapping dialog.

The problem is that if I close Remote Buddy and re-open it, the behaviour has disappeared. I can open up the construction kit and it's still there waiting (after which I can "compile, test and permanently install" again and everything is fine until restarting).

How do I really permanently install this behaviour so I don't have to install via the kit everytime I restart? Has it got something to do with the fact that my behaviour is also called "Plex"? When I install it does warn me that my version is not newer than the existing one (because I don't incremement my version number each time)... might be a red herring though.

Thanks!

Gavin

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for asking.

This sounds like a file permissions problem. Usually "compile, test
and permanently install" will save a copy of the Scripted Behaviour to

~/Application Support/Remote Buddy/Behaviours/

so that RB will find and load it on the next start. If file
permissions keep RB from saving the new Behaviour there, this of
course won't work.

Possible workaround:
1) Export the Behaviour to f.ex. your desktop.
2) Manually move the new Behaviour to above location. If access to
that dir is restricted as I think (and which it usually shouldn't be),
the Finder should prompt you for your admin password.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz
