Can Sony DB Remote or Wiimote Wake From Sleep
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Currently using (and loving!) Remote Buddy with my iphone and an old powerbook as a media player. However I have all my AV gear hidden out of view which is great other than the fact that I cannot wake my powerbook from sleep without having to physically open up the laptop and hit a key.

Ideally I would like to just wake my powerbook from sleep using a remote. As far as I am aware a Keyspan RF would serve this purpose but if either the sony or nintendo served this function it would be both easier and cheaper for me to get a hold of one of these.

Cheers

Yes, both can wake your Mac as long as they have an active connection
to your Mac at the time the Mac went to sleep. Which is likely to not
always be the case, because battery time of Bluetooth remotes is
limited.

Therefore, I wouldn't recommend a Bluetooth remote if the only purpose
you want to buy them for is to wake your Mac from sleep. A proprietary
solution like the Keyspan RF Remote (which - to the system - is
nothing but a USB keyboard) has much longer battery life, because it
doesn't need to spend any power on keeping a high-level (Bluetooth
protocol) connection alive.
