iSight Video stopped working
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi, I've been using AJAX Remote to monitor my iMac's iSight video while on the road for many months now without any trouble. Each time I accesed this feaure from my iPhone the little green light beside the iSight's led would light up and the video would start streaming immediately (through lan & wan alike).
For some reason this feature has stopped working on my setup. Now, when I press the "camera" button on the Remote Buddy's interface, all I get is a pink screen where the video is supposed to be, and the iSight's litle green light no longer lights up. Apparently every other feature seems to work well.
The iMac's iSight continues to work perfectly with iChat AV and Skype. i'm using Remote Buddy version 1.11.2 on OS X 10.5.5.
What could have changed?

Thanks in advance.

-Jose.

Hi Jose,

thanks for asking.

The Camera feature of the AJAX Remote asks QuickTime for its default
video input device (which usually is the iSight) and will then
transmit the image of that device.

If you see a pink screen instead, you must have another video source
attached to your iMac (like a DV camera, video digitizer or a TV
solution) that generates this image when being asked for video image
data and that is considered the default video input device by QuickTime.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz

Thank you so much Felix for your kind help. What you described is exactly what was happening. There was an old & unused USB video digitizer connected to the iMac which inadvertently became the default input device. Everything works perfectly now. Should have checked every peripheral before posting. Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks again & kudos for your amazing app.
