VIDEO_TS (Video DVD) not working without a DVD-Drive?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi,

I would like to use the VIDEO_TS function in RB to playback DVD-media on my HDD.

RB do find the titles, the DVD-Player app opens and gives me the message "Es wurde kein gültiges DVD-Laufwerk gefunden [-70012]".
(for the non-German peolpe: No valid DVD-drive found). RB crashes after this, so I have to forcefully end RB & restart to use it again.

I don`t have any DVD-drive installed in my Mac, as it was not working correctly a long time ago and I only use the machine as a HTPC with RB&XBMC. Is it possible anyway to obtain somehow the functionality *without* any attached DVD-drive?

Thanks,
best regards
Chris

Thanks for asking.

Given the error message, OS X DVD Player will simply refuse to start
if no DVD drive was found. This, however, is nothing Remote Buddy has
any control or influence on. It appears to be a "feature" of DVD Player.

The VLC Player is a free alternative to DVD Player that can also play
back VIDEO_TS folders and for which Remote Buddy offers the same
VIDEO_TS launcher that it offers for DVD Player.

Thanks for the answer, Felix. I`ll just use VLC then, I had not thought of the most obvious alternative :-)

Best regards
