EyeTV: Switching channels/playing a record on more maximized windows using Favorites/Recordings
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hello,
My system: 24" iMac, EyeTV 3.1 (4512), Terratec Cinergy S USB + FireDTV S2, Remote Buddy 1.11.5 and Apple Remote.

Having two or more open EyeTV-windows (independently from type: LiveTV, Record or QTmovie), when I switch channels using Apple Remote, it changes the channel of the active window BUT other windows are disappear. Concretly:

-----
2 maximized windows from different devices, using Remote Buddy:
changing channels with Apple Remote using a channel list: MENU button then FAVORITES
or
playing a record with Apple Remote: MENU button then RECORDINGS

result: on window1 the channel/record is switched/played correctly but window2 disappears(!?)
-----

This happens indipendently from devices. I've tried it with two Cynergy S USB tuners but with the same result.

How can I avoid the disappearing of non active maximized windows?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for asking.

There are three cases to differentiate (taken directly from looking at
the source code):

1) If you select a recording directly from Remote Buddy's menu, it'll
close all other TV windows and open just that recording, so that you
can switch between the things you watch. That's what most people will
want instead of an additional window being opened when selecting a new
recording.

2) If you select a new station/channel directly from Remote Buddy's
menu, it'll close all recorded video playback windows, but will leave
your TV windows untouched. Again, that's what most people will want
when switching from watching a recording to a TV station.

3) If you switch channels directly via the remote, Remote Buddy will
just send a "channel_up" and "channel_down" AppleScript command to
EyeTV. It'll not change your window configuration.

Thanks for answering!

I think this feature (close all other TV windows and open just one) was made at the beginning, when EyeTV users had mostly one tuner. But now people have more then one tuner and need to have them displayed all at the same time. I've made a script (here: http://www.vimeo.com/1935568) that I and other users daily utilize to display simultaneously all live TV-windows of 4 tuners on a external TV. But we can't use the amazing options FAVORITES and RECORDINGS of Remote Buddy on it, because of closing of other windows.

Please, if it is possible, adapt Remote Buddy to allow switching of channels and playing of records on active window (using Favorites/Recordings) without closing of other non active windows.

Thank You very very much
