Question mark instead of screen (trackpad) MAC

Ok, so I'd like to be able to view what's going on remotely on a Mac that I'm using for repetitive tasks.

So I installed Remote Buddy, did the firewall access, logged in via Safari on my iPod touch. Everything works fine, If I move my finger on the screen of my iPod, the cursor does move on my Mac but on my iPod, I get a question mark instead of my mac screen.

Intel Mac Mini 1.83Gz OS X 10.5.6
iPod Touch first Gen 8Gb

Thanks for asking.

iPhone Safari displays a question mark if
- loading an image did not complete (f.ex. because the connection was
interrupted while loading the image)
- when the image data it received was corrupted

You'll usually see both of above if the WiFi connection is unreliable.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz

Thanks for the reply Felix

ok, my wireless network is fine (Apple Airport up to date) and never drops or goes below full bars in my house. I have two Apple Airport Extreme bases. So that can't be the issue.

Update: It works! forgot to click screen sharing.

Very cool! will be buying it for sure.

Cheers

figured out the problem, the question mark appears on if I don't have my LCD screen connected to my mac. So unless I can figure out a way around this, I can't use Remote Buddy. The mac will never have a screen connected to as it's on a shelf on it own with no screen, keyboard or mouse.

Oh well, would have been neat... :(

I'm having this issue too.

I'm using an external display, but have screen sharing enabled.

Try Mocha VNC... Works great...

Was never able to get Remote Buddy to work and Mocha worked like a charm right away.

Seems to be a router issue as connecting to my home wifi rather than my university home wifi (on the same laptop and ipod touch, without any setting changes on either device) means the feature works almost perfectly! hmmm....
