This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.

Navigate to an album or a playlist, then choose the song to start
playback at. First, that file will be played and then all files
listedbelow that.

Please also see the blog for info on limitations of the media player
of Mobile Safari (=> no previous/next song navigation, you can
navigate to the next song by sliding the playback position on the top
to the end, though).

All that info as of iPhone / iPod Touch firmware version 1.1.4.
