I wouldn't know what could cause this. Disconnect and pairing works 
fine on all Macs that I've tested it on. I generally have little to no 
influence on any Bluetooth-related details in OS X 10.5.6 since 
connect, disconnect and connection maintenance are entirely handled by 
OS X in that OS release.

What happens if you use the OS X Bluetooth-Menu (in the titlebar of OS 
X) to disconnect the BD Remote?

Can you see anything Bluteooth-related in Console.app's log (in "All 
messages" view)?

Please also let me know, what your settings in Remote Buddy > 
Preferences > Hardware > Bluetooth Receiver are.
