That, however, isn't it for Remote Buddy, which has always retained the channel objects. The core issue for Remote Buddy is that OS X wants - seeing as it is a HID device - to grab the device, just like Remote Buddy. Except OS X does so on the kernel level and Remote Buddy does so on the user-space level. OS X is usually quicker and "wins". For previous versions of OS X, Remote Buddy therefore implemented a finely concerted, kernel-level workaround, which, however, no longer appears to work in Mountain Lion.
