Hi Phil,

please try replacing the battery of your Apple Remote with a new one. Since the aluminum Apple Remote - unlike its white plastic predecessor - won't send a signal when batteries are near empty, this condition can't be reported to you automatically. It will, however, often lead to long presses not working correctly - or button presses not being sent (or not being sent in full).
