Re: Using Remote Buddy with Quicksilver

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.

However how does the Apple remote invoke Front Row? I would guess you could reverse engineer that process...

Front Row receives the Apple Remote button events seperately from the keystrokes. So the keystrokes are really just an addition to remote control access and not the way, the Apple Remote is invoking Front Row.

It's not possible for Remote Buddy to send Apple Remote button events itself as far as I can see.

I think you missunderstood what I meant. I understand exactly what your saying, in fact its very similar to what I said.

What I meant to convey was, if there is a peice of Apples own software running that listens for the remote control and starts front row, without simply invoking the keyboard shortcut, then somewhere there is a hook in the system or the frontrow application to programitcally start front row. Maybe you could reverse engineer that code.

That was what I was saying. Apple somehow does it so its there somewhere...

This feature arrived in preview 2 but you may still want to have a
look at preview 3 as well ;-)

Will do

Cheers
