Strange DVD player behavior

I have a recurring problem where, when I quit the DVD Player application, it immediately restarts itself and continues to do so until I eject the DVD. It doesn't happen all of the time, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to it except that it only happens when Remote Buddy is running in the background. I trashed all the prefs for DVD Player and Remote Buddy, and the problem has persisted. Any ideas what the problem might be? I am running 10.4.9 on a (final revision) iMac G5.
