VLC media list
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I just upgraded to RC2 14 and VLC media player no longer finds my media library. My media files are on a network share that I mount to the desktop as "Media". Before I didn't have to take any special action to get VLC to find these files and list them from the RB interface. After the upgrade it now says no valid media found. Is there additional steps now to tell it where to scan for media files? Thanks

Hello Wes,

thanks for asking.

No changes were made to the Spotlight code itself since RC1, so I
guess this is a Spotlight related problem. You can force a reindex of
your media files using

mdimport -f /Volumes/Media

(where Media is the name of your mounted share)

However, I'm not sure whether indexing of network volumes is really
supported by Spotlight in Tiger. If I remember correctly, this was
announced as a new feature of Leopard.

Best regards,
Felix
