Video Folders Navigation Tips?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Just thought I drop-in my 2 cents...

Aside from nicely ogranized Movies folder (& DVDPedia) , I've got a handful of lose and random video clips that I've accumulated over the years. And although they're organized in subfolders, I find it very cumbersome to get to them using the folder menu system in RB.

Anyone have any tips for easily browsing a random collection of video files on their Macs? (FrontRow is too cumbersome for me since my folder structure is deep and it takes ages for my G4 Mac Mini to generate those animated thumbnail previews.)

Vista Media Center does a pretty good job with this...

Hi there ..

just out of curiosity: how does Vista Media Center handle it?

Best regards,

I guess Vista does the same but uses static (non-animated) thumbnails of the videos organized by folders. I suppose the pre-cached thumbnails makes deep-navigation less tedious (and more interesting).

Here's a clip I found on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lSyK4t3Rbg
(There should be many samples there...)

The main difference for me--using a 1.25GHz G4 mac mini with 1GB RAM--is the lack of responsiveness and speed of the navigation. I don't know how much of that can me improved on my hardware.

Once again, this topic is not directly related to Remote Buddy but thought it useful for HTPC related discussion.

I still think Remote Buddy is superb--and does exactly what it claims to do.
