Looking for owners of a new MacBook Pro (2.2 or 2.4 GHz)

Hello everyone,

I'll need your help this time.

I need your support to perform a few tests on a MacBook Pro of the latest generation (= less than a week old) which shouldn't take longer than five to ten minutes - and maybe another five to ten minutes launching a tool and sending me the output, if the first test fails.

This would spare me the investment into buying a second MacBook Pro I would have no real use for ;-)

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Felix

Hi Felix,

I'd be happy to assist with the testing (just got the new MacBook Pro last Tuesday).

I am having a problem that may change your results though. When I hit the menu button it brings up front row. I remapped the button to play/stop and the Remote Buddy won't come up at all. I've installed the kernal extension but it's still not working.

I've got a 2.4Ghz 15" MacBook with the latest updates, etc.

I'd be happy to assist as well - but I have exactly the same problem as Scott.

Thanks a lot for the offers and Scott for already having sent me
detailed data from his new MBP.

I've been looking into it (=> some more info in the Blog) and even
did some AppleTV hacking to see what has changed in hardware.

Result for now is that I've ordered a new MBP and will do further
investigation as soon as it arrives and see what can be done to solve
the problem.

Best regards,
Felix

Hello all,

I'm having the same problem. As default receiver the Hotkey Remote appears, and there is no way of adding the actual Apple remote.

As said, the latest generation of MacBook Pros ships with a different
IR receiver. I've ordered a new MBP to explore the issue and find
solutions as soon as possible.

Hi,
With my new MacBook Pro 2.4 I have the same problem as every one else. Thanks for looking at this and I hope you will find a solution. Meanwhile, you should have issued a warning for the new MacBook Pro owners how are also, as I, possible Remote Buddy users.
Regards.
Bruno.

I received the MBP I ordered today and was able to identify and solve
the problem.

An update will be available shortly.

Quick update: Version 1.0.5 does now include support for the new IR
receivers as well.
