The maximum physical resolution of the WiiMote is 1024 in horizontal
direction, so that a further reduction would lead to visible jumps.
Remote Buddy already employs smoothing, but there's also a focus on
staying reactive.
The Wii itself can smooth much more, as it doesn't feature any
comparably fine elements in the onscreen menu.
Another problem is that often you'll move down the Wii Remote during a
button press. This again is no problem for the Wii as the on screen
buttons can be designed to be large enough - but this doesn't apply to
a Mac. In order to still be able to perform precise single and double
clicks the mouse control is turned off for the fraction of a second in
order to do away with the "movement due to a button press".
You're right in that using a Wiimote with a Wii and with a Mac using
RB isn't the same. But then, a Mac and a Wii aren't the same eihter.
They have different UI concepts and handle input differently. Thus,
the requirements for a driver for the two devices are also totally
different.
Rest assured I'll continue to work on the Wii Remote driver, but
clearly finding a general purpose "one size fits all" solution isn't
possible for a device with a UI as fine grained and as complex as that
of a Mac.
Best regards,
Felix
