Terratec Black. Faulty or just really unresponsive?

First of all let me say this is no problem with remote buddy which I find to be an amazing program. It is related though so I thought I would ask here.

I have had one of these remotes that came with my Terratec T2 a year or so back.

I've never been happy with it, you always seem to need to point it right at the receiver for it to pick anything up and it generally is incredibly unresponsive. This is just in eyeTV without using remote buddy at all.

Now I have the option of using this with remote buddy I would actually like to but the remote is just unusable. You have to be no more than a metre from the receiver and point it right at it. I have tried putting in fresh batteries.

Anyone else have this issue? Is this remote just rubbish or have I got a faulty one?

TV or stereo remotes (not just the Terratec) in general will usually
be not as responsive as remotes made for computers. The former usually
transmit the same signal again and again in given intervals. A press
can only be considered to have ended once no identical signal has been
received within that interval.

So, if that interval is f.ex. 0.5 seconds, the receiver will have to
wait until around 0.6 - 0.7 seconds have passed before it can tell
that you have stopped pressing a button on the remote.

If you need more precise control, you can also use an Apple Remote
with the Cinergy T2, EyeTV and Remote Buddy.

I can't really say much on the range of the receiver/remote
configuration. I didn't do any experiments with regards to that. What
may considerably weaken the signal, though, is if you should have any
kind of film on the receiver or remote (the protective kind of film
you find on new electronic products).

Best regards,
Felix

That's perfect. I have an Apple Remote and it works brilliantly. No need for that awful Terratec one.

With the Apple Remote, an iPhone and a Wii Remote I have three amazing options to control my Media Mac.

Thanks for making such cool useful software. You have made my dream of a remote Mac for my HDTV possible.

Thanks again.
