Plex Behaviour Doesn't Deactivate Automatically
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi,

I am using the Sony BD bluetooth remote. In global mapping, I have assigned to the Red button the "Active Plex" behaviour.

That starts up great but when I exit from Plex, the behaviour doesn't get deactivated. I have to manually deactivate it from the Remote Buddy menu.

It's strange because if I use the remote buddy menu and browse to activate Plex behaviour, then exit, the behaviour gets deactivated when I exit Plex.

In Preferences>General>Advanced>Manually Activated Behaviours stay active is turned off.

How can I fix this? I don't want to go to the Remote Buddy menu to manually deactivate a behaviour.

Thanks!

Thanks for asking.

Please check the setting

Preferences > General > Advanced > Activate Behaviour at start

and make sure that it's left on the default setting: "None
(recommended)".

Behaviours chosen in that option stay active until they are
explicitely deactivated.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, "Activate Behaviour at start" is off.

I noticed I didn't have the newest Leopard updates installed so I installed them and rebooted.

Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. If I active the Plex behaviour by the Remote Buddy menu and I exit from Plex, the Plex behaviour is disabled.

If I directly map any button and then use that button to activate the Plex behaviour, when I exit Plex, the Plex behaviour is still active.

I've also done a reset to default values just to be sure and I still get the same problem.

I also have the same issue that when I close Plex RB doesn't notice that Plex is closed.

(I've remapped Menu-hold in Global to "Activate Plex" behavior.)

Thanks for all the feedback.

I've just downloaded Plex v0.5 RC3 and tried to reproduce the issue -
and succeeded. The problem does not seem to be a Remote Buddy one,
though:

When I try to quit Plex using Remote Buddy (=> which sends a standard
"quit" event to Plex - that's the same i.e. the Dock would send to
Plex when selecting "Quit" from the context menu you get when right-
clicking on Plex in your dock), Plex will close its window, but Plex
will keep running nonetheless and (and that's the bit that makes
Remote Buddy seem to "stick" to Plex) stay the frontmost/active
application (=> you can also see this in your Mac's menu bar).

If, however, I select "Quit" from Plex's pull down menu, it will close
correctly, so my guess is that Plex handles Quit events and the
selection of the quit command from the menu differently.

I'll contact the Plex team, so they are aware of this bug.

Possible, temporary workaround:

Create a custom action that sends a Command + Q keystroke to Plex.

Using "Force quit" would be another option, but that option comes with
all the risks of "killing" a running application, so please use that
option solely on your own risk.

Small update:
I contacted the Plex team and got the info that the bug has already
been squashed and will no longer be around in the next release of Plex.
