Here's what Remote Buddy will receive from the Harmony Hub for a long and short button press, respectively:
1) with long and short press pointing to the same commands in the Harmony Hub's configuration:
a) short press: [press] [release]
b) 2 seconds long press: [press] .. 2s pass .. [release]
2) with long and short press pointing to different commands in the Harmony Hub's configuration:
a) short press: [press] [release]
b) 2 seconds long press: [press] .. 0s pass .. [release] .. 2s pass ..
So, by having short and long presses point to different Harmony commands, the Harmony won't share the duration of a button press with Remote Buddy. All presses for such buttons will then be seen as having a duration of zero seconds by Remote Buddy.
Some actions - like rewind, which start rewinding when you press the button, and stop rewinding when you release the button - will only work and be usable, if Remote Buddy has access to the duration of a button press.
So, for buttons like the rewind button, it is highly desirable to configure the Harmony to use the same command for both short and long button presses.
You can, of course, in Remote Buddy, assign different actions for the short and long states of a button.
