Did try using Remote Buddy on my G4 MIniMac with working Front Row via Enabler 1.2.2

And all I got was ....

Could not get access.

Another application may currently be using the Apple Remote exclusively. Please quit that application and then use the Remote Buddy icon in the menu to activate it.

Another possible cause for this error is that your computer does not support an Apple Remote.

Will Remote Buddy work on a G4 ?

Hello Peter,

this may work in the future with additional hardware and an extended
RB concept.

There's no G4 Mac model that supports remote controls in factory
configuration.

Hello Peter,

Remote Buddy is a Universal Binary and as such can run on any PPC and
Intel Mac capable of running OS X 10.4.6.

However, you still need the necessary remote control hardware in
order to use Remote Buddy, which no G4 Mac currently has.

It's easy to get the PPC to run Front Row with this remote.
Keyspan URM-17A or there is a number of other remotes that will work.

See http://www.andrewescobar.com/frontrow

The software patch ENABLER 1.2.2 will let me run Front Row on a PPC

I just need to be able to run your software so I can buy it.

What makes it hard to support the Keyspan adapter is the fact that it
is a hardware-only solution. It emulates the keystrokes on what looks
to the system like a regular USB keyboard. That is, an application
can not distinguish between a press on the remote's button and a
press of the cursor keys on your keyboard.

I do have an idea, but need to do some more research and testing
before I can say whether it will work or not. More on this as I know
it :-)
