Remote Buddy uses Core Foundation to make its connection to the 
update server (it polls a property list XML file with information on 
the latest version available - CF makes it very easy to load and 
decode it all in a few lines).

Do you go through a proxy or something similiar for webbrowsing?

No proxies, firewalls etc. Just a direct connection to the internet.

I'm using a purchased version of RemoteBuddy (Preview 3) not the demo. 

which internet provider are you using?

Do you have anything like Little Snitch installed that might block 
outgoing connections for anything other than i.e. Safari?

Can you reach the website via the button that turns up with the error 
message?

I use BT as my ISP.

I do have Little Snitch running, but it has not asked if I would allow or deny a connection from Remote Buddy.

I have disabled Little Snitch, but RB still won't connect.

If I click on the "Go to Website" button, it does take me to your site with no problems.

I have also installed RB on a completely clean install of OSX on my second MBP and the problem persists.

thanks for the feedback.

I'll look into it later today and may switch to using WebKit instead 
of Core Foundation functions to poll the update server for information.
